PlayStation enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as the gaming giant has officially announced the year’s inaugural State of Play games showcase event, scheduled to stream on January 31. Both games are slated for release on the cutting-edge PS5 later this year.

The State of Play event isn’t just limited to these two titles; it will encompass a broad spectrum, featuring over 15 games in total. Sony aims to unravel more details about upcoming titles for both PS5 and the eagerly awaited PS VR2, scheduled to hit the shelves in 2024 and beyond. The event is poised to be a treasure trove for gaming enthusiasts, offering insights into the next wave of immersive experiences.

To ensure everyone can join the excitement, PlayStation will livestream the event on its official YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok channels. The broadcast kicks off on Wednesday, January 31, at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT, or 3:30am on Thursday in India. This strategic timing accommodates a global audience, allowing gamers from different time zones to tune in for the latest updates and reveals.

Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, teased fans with the promise of an event packed with surprises, stating, “The broadcast will be over 40 minutes long, and feature guest appearances from some of the most talented minds in gaming.” With Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin taking center stage, gamers can expect in-depth insights and gameplay footage, providing a taste of what’s to come on the PS5 gaming landscape in 2024.

While Sony has maintained an air of mystery around additional game announcements, the extended runtime of the showcase hints at numerous revelations. Notable leaks, including speculation about Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 and a PlayStation exclusive title named Concorde, have fueled anticipation. If these leaks hold true, the State of Play event could be a platform for major announcements, making it a must-watch for the gaming community worldwide. As the countdown to January 31 begins, excitement is building, and gamers are gearing up for an immersive showcase that promises to set the tone for a thrilling year in gaming.
