Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 Could Skip Global Markets and Debut as the Thinnest Foldable Yet

Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 Missed Global Launch, Raising Questions About Mix Fold 4’s Release Strategy

Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 4, the anticipated successor to the Mix Fold 3, is generating considerable buzz as speculation about its global release intensifies. While some sources suggest that this next-generation foldable phone will indeed make its way to markets outside China, conflicting reports have emerged, casting doubt on its international availability. As we await official confirmation from Xiaomi, the debate continues over whether the Mix Fold 4 will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, which was only available in the Chinese market.

A prominent tipster, Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) on X, has fueled excitement by suggesting that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 will be released globally. According to this source, the upcoming foldable is expected to feature an impressively thin profile, measuring just 9.x mm in thickness. If these claims hold true, the Mix Fold 4 could claim the title of the narrowest foldable phone on the market. This would place it in direct competition with other slim foldable devices, such as Honor’s Magic V3, which is scheduled for a July 12 launch.

In contrast, a report from GizmoChina offers a different perspective. Citing internal sources, GizmoChina asserts that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 will not be available outside of China. The report highlights two distinct model numbers associated with the device: ‘24072PX77C’ and ‘24076PX3BC’. The former is believed to be linked to a satellite communication version of the phone, while the latter may lack this feature. The suffix ‘C’ in the model numbers is speculated to indicate a China-exclusive variant.

Additionally, the Mix Fold 4 is reportedly assigned the codename ‘goku’ and an internal model number of ‘N18’, further suggesting that the device could be tailored specifically for the Chinese market. These internal designations and model numbers have led to speculation that Xiaomi may be focusing on a domestic release strategy rather than pursuing a global launch for this particular foldable phone.

As the release date for the Mix Fold 4 approaches, clarity on its global availability remains elusive. For now, potential buyers outside China will have to wait for official announcements from Xiaomi to determine whether this innovative foldable phone will be accessible in their regions. Until then, the mix of conflicting reports and insider leaks continues to stir anticipation and uncertainty in the tech community.
