AI chip startup Groq establishes a new business unit and acquires Definitive Intelligence

Groq, a startup specializing in developing chips designed to accelerate generative AI models, is expanding its focus to target both the enterprise and public sector markets.

Today, Groq announced the establishment of a new division called Groq Systems, dedicated to significantly broadening its customer and developer base. Groq Systems will cater to organizations, including government agencies, seeking to integrate Groq’s chips into their existing data centers or construct new data centers utilizing Groq processors.

As part of this expansion, Groq has acquired Definitive Intelligence, a Palo Alto-based company offering various business-oriented AI solutions such as chatbots, data analytics tools, and documentation builders. Sunny Madra, former CEO of Definitive Intelligence, now leads GroqCloud, Groq’s cloud platform providing hardware documentation, code samples, and self-serve API access to the company’s cloud-hosted accelerators.

Jonathan Ross, co-founder and CEO of Groq, emphasized the company’s commitment to democratizing access to the AI economy.
