Life360 Introduces Flight Landing Notifications to Alert Friends and Family

Life360, a family location services company, has introduced a new feature in its app that automatically notifies friends and family when a user reaches their destination after taking a flight. Leveraging phone sensors to measure location, altitude, and speed, the feature can detect takeoff and landing times, sending alerts upon connecting to the network post-landing.

With more than 66 million active users, Life360’s landing notification feature aims to provide a convenient alternative to online flight trackers or waiting for travelers to send updates to their circle. The feature is enabled for all users with the latest app update and can be toggled off through the Flight Detection setting.

Chris Hulls, CEO of Life360, emphasized the company’s focus on safety and protection updates for users’ inner circles. He highlighted the advantage of Life360’s solution over Apple’s, noting its availability on both iOS and Android platforms.

In addition to software updates, Life360 is gearing up to launch a new Tile lineup, following its acquisition of Tile in 2021 for $205 million. Hulls hinted at a unified hardware lineup featuring Bluetooth tags and GPS devices with LTE connections, offering a more comprehensive service compared to Apple’s one-size-fits-all approach.

Expanding its premium membership, Life360 introduced it in Canada in 2022 and in the U.K. in 2023. The company plans to further extend the paid tier to Australia this year, aiming to provide enhanced features and services to its global user base.
