Samsung Extends Green Line Free Screen Replacement for Select Galaxy Models Until September

Samsung has reportedly extended the coverage period for its one-time free screen replacement policy for smartphones suffering from the notorious green line issue. According to sources, Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S21 owners in India will now be eligible for a free screen replacement at authorized service centers until September 2025. This extension gives users of these models more time to avail of the service, which was originally slated to end in December 2024. While the offer provides relief to those affected, Samsung has made it clear that the policy has certain eligibility criteria and conditions based on factors like the device’s purchase date and its overall condition.

The green line issue, a display defect that has plagued a number of Galaxy smartphones, has led to Samsung’s initiative to replace the affected screens. The free replacement involves swapping out the On-Cell Touch AMOLED (OCTA) assembly, which is responsible for the display issues. Additionally, Samsung technicians will also replace the device’s battery and any other necessary components as part of the service. This initiative comes as a significant relief to users who were previously worried about the costs involved in repairing the affected devices, especially when the warranty had expired.

As confirmed by Samsung Support, the new deadline of September 2025 applies specifically to Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S21 series devices. However, the program comes with certain limitations, including the requirement that the devices should not have any physical or water damage. Furthermore, only devices purchased within three years of the replacement request are eligible. To qualify for the free replacement, users must also present the original purchase invoice, and the policy is strictly limited to the first owner of the device.

This extension is likely to benefit a large number of Samsung users who have faced the green line issue but were previously unaware of the replacement program or had missed the original deadline. The move underscores Samsung’s commitment to customer satisfaction, ensuring that affected devices are serviced at no cost for eligible users. However, users are encouraged to check the exact terms and conditions with Samsung support or an authorized service center to confirm their eligibility before proceeding with the replacement.
