HMD Skyline 2 Name Spotted Online, Launch Expected by Year-End

HMD Skyline 2 Tipped to Launch This Year as Successor to 2024’s Midrange Favorite

HMD Global appears to be gearing up for the launch of a follow-up to its Skyline smartphone, which originally debuted in July 2024 and made its way to the Indian market by September of the same year. While the company has not officially confirmed the existence of a successor, early reports suggest that a new model — likely to be called the HMD Skyline 2 — could be in the works. If the rumors prove true, the upcoming device is expected to arrive with upgraded features and hardware improvements over its predecessor.

According to a tip shared by X user HMD_MEME’S (@smashx_60), the HMD Skyline 2 could make its global debut in July this year. Although the post didn’t include any specifications or design details, it hinted that the company may be preparing to unveil other devices alongside it — namely the Skyline 2GT and Fusion 2. The Skyline 2GT is speculated to be a gaming-centric variant, although no official word has been released by HMD regarding any of these names or devices.

The original HMD Skyline was positioned as a midrange contender, featuring a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset and a 4,600mAh replaceable battery. It stood out for its versatile charging capabilities, including 33W wired, 15W magnetic wireless, and 5W reverse wireless charging support. The phone also boasted a 6.55-inch full-HD+ pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, providing a smooth and durable user experience. A Custom Button on the left edge added a touch of personalization to the device.

With the rumored launch timeline aligning closely with the release cycle of the original model, expectations are high for HMD to build on the strengths of the first Skyline. While concrete specs remain under wraps, fans of the brand will be watching closely in the coming weeks for more credible leaks or official announcements. Until then, all details should be treated as speculation.
