WhatsApp Introduces New Microphone Mode Settings for Voice and Video Calls on iPhone

WhatsApp Reportedly Simplifies iPhone Call Audio Controls With New Mic Mode Shortcut
WhatsApp is said to be introducing a new feature for iPhone users that streamlines access to microphone settings during calls. According to recent reports, the messaging platform is adding a dedicated shortcut within its call interface, allowing users to switch between Apple’s audio processing modes without leaving the app. The update is designed to make audio adjustments quicker and more convenient, especially during active voice and video conversations.
The feature was reportedly spotted in WhatsApp for iOS version 26.27.74. Instead of requiring users to open the iPhone’s Control Center and navigate through system settings, the new shortcut is expected to provide direct access to microphone controls from within the call screen. This could reduce interruptions and make it easier to optimize audio quality on the fly.
Rather than introducing its own audio-processing technology, WhatsApp appears to be leveraging Apple’s existing microphone system. Through the new shortcut, users are expected to access options such as Standard, Voice Isolation, Wide Spectrum, and Automatic modes. These settings are designed for different scenarios, ranging from minimizing background noise to capturing a wider range of ambient sounds during conversations.
The rollout is reportedly happening in phases, meaning the feature may not be immediately available to all users. While WhatsApp has yet to officially announce the addition or provide a broader release timeline, reports suggest more iPhone users should gain access over the coming weeks. If widely adopted, the update could offer a smoother and more user-friendly calling experience by bringing key audio controls directly into WhatsApp’s interface.
