Redmi Turbo 4 Pro to Launch: Design and Color Variants Unveiled

The highly anticipated Redmi Turbo 4 Pro is set to be unveiled later this week, with the company revealing key details about its design and features ahead of the launch. Teasers have confirmed that the smartphone will sport a sharp 2.5K resolution display, promising an immersive viewing experience. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, ensuring top-tier performance. Its design appears to closely resemble the standard Redmi Turbo 4, which was introduced in China earlier this year. Unlike the standard version, which comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra SoC and a 1.5K OLED display, the Pro variant takes things up a notch with its advanced specifications.

Set to launch in China on April 24 at 7 PM local time (4:30 PM IST), the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro has been teased in various posts, offering a glimpse into its sleek design. The handset is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup, positioned vertically in the top-left corner of the back panel within a pill-shaped module. An elongated LED flash unit is placed beside the camera array, enhancing the phone’s photographic capabilities. The Redmi Turbo 4 Pro will also sport a flat display with slim, uniform bezels and a centered hole-punch cutout for the front camera, providing a modern and clean look.

In terms of build, the phone will have a metal middle frame with rounded corners, giving it a premium feel. The back cover is made of “soft mist glass,” offering a smooth texture and aesthetic appeal. As for color options, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro will be available in three distinct shades: black, green, and white, giving users a variety of choices to suit their personal style. This range of colors adds a touch of customization and flair to the device’s overall design.

Under the hood, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro is expected to be a powerhouse. Equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, it will offer excellent performance for gaming, multitasking, and everyday use. The phone is also expected to feature up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, which should ensure fast data access and smooth app performance. With its impressive hardware and sleek design, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro is shaping up to be a highly competitive device in the flagship market.

Global Smartphone Shipments Rose 1.5% Year-over-Year in Q1 2025, with Samsung and Apple Maintaining Top Spots, IDC Reports

The global smartphone market began 2025 on a strong note, with shipments increasing by 1.5% year-over-year (YoY) in the first quarter, according to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC). Total shipments reached 304.9 million units, marking a positive start for the year. Samsung and Apple retained their positions as the top two players in the market, with Samsung continuing to lead the pack, followed by Apple. While Apple’s performance reached new heights with its best Q1 shipment numbers ever, the company faced a decline in China, an important market for its products.

Samsung maintained its leadership with a 19.9% market share, shipping 60.6 million units. The company’s strong performance was driven by the success of its Galaxy S25 series, as well as the popular Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 models. IDC’s report indicates that Samsung’s strategic focus on its flagship and mid-range smartphones helped it achieve significant growth in the first quarter of 2025, despite the ongoing trade tensions between the U.S. and China.

Apple also saw impressive results, recording 57.9 million units shipped and grabbing 19.0% of the market share. The company enjoyed a 10% YoY growth compared to Q1 2024, though its performance in China saw a decline. This was due, in part, to the exclusion of iPhone Pro models from the Chinese government’s subsidy program, which affected its overall sales in the region. Despite this, Apple’s performance globally was stellar, marking its best first quarter ever in terms of units shipped.

Meanwhile, Chinese smartphone brands continue to hold strong positions, with Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo securing spots in the top five. Xiaomi, in third place, saw a 2.5% increase in shipments, moving 41.8 million units and benefiting from government subsidies in China. Oppo, holding fourth place, saw its market share at 7.7%, though its international shipments dropped. Vivo rounded out the top five with 7.4% market share, driven by strong demand for affordable devices and its V series smartphones, which performed well in emerging markets.

Xiaomi 16 Expected Later This Year With Bigger Battery Upgrade Over Xiaomi 15

Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 16, is already generating buzz well ahead of its official launch, which is expected by the end of 2025. While we’re still about six months away from its debut, early leaks have begun to surface, offering glimpses into what the brand has planned. According to the latest tip from Chinese source Wisdom Pikachu on Weibo, the standard Xiaomi 16 model could arrive with a significantly larger battery than its predecessor, signaling a major boost in endurance for the series.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 16 is rumored to feature either Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset or MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9500 SoC. Both chipsets are expected to bring top-tier performance, improved energy efficiency, and next-gen AI capabilities. If the leaks hold true, this would make the Xiaomi 16 not just more powerful, but also smarter and more capable than ever. The inclusion of a battery exceeding 7,000mAh would be a dramatic jump from the 5,240mAh battery found in the Indian variant of the Xiaomi 15.

To put this into perspective, the current Xiaomi 15 launched in China in October 2024 with a 5,400mAh battery, 90W wired fast charging, and 50W wireless charging — specs that already made it one of the fastest-charging phones in its class. The Indian version, released a few months later alongside the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, slightly trimmed the battery down to 5,240mAh but retained the same fast-charging capabilities. Reports suggest that Xiaomi might utilize advanced silicon-carbon battery technology in the Xiaomi 16 series, enabling higher capacity without significantly increasing the physical size or weight of the device.

Looking back at the Xiaomi 15, it offered a premium spec sheet that included a 6.36-inch full-HD+ LTPO AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and up to 12GB RAM with 512GB of storage. Its triple 50MP camera setup, IP68 water and dust resistance, and flagship build quality set a high bar for the Xiaomi 16 to surpass. If the early leaks are accurate, the upcoming model is shaping up to be not just a refinement, but a meaningful leap forward in both battery life and performance.
