A recent leak suggests that Samsung might reintroduce the vertically scrolling app drawer feature later this year. This functionality is purportedly set to be reintegrated through the Good Lock app, facilitated by the forthcoming One UI 6.1.1 update anticipated to roll out in the coming months. Speculations indicate that the feature will be incorporated into the Home Up module, offering users a familiar and intuitive interface for navigating through their apps. It’s worth noting that Samsung had previously provided a vertically scrolling app drawer through the Good Lock suite, but this feature was removed following the One UI 6.0 update in the previous year, eliciting disappointment among users.
The leak originates from a post shared by tipster @theonecid on X (formerly Twitter), who shared a screenshot of a Samsung Community thread. Within the screenshot, a moderator purportedly affiliated with the Good Lock support team indicated that preparations are underway to introduce this feature in One UI 6.1.1. However, the moderator cautioned that the support schedule might be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite efforts to verify this information, Gadgets 360, could not independently corroborate the post’s authenticity.
As of the present, Samsung smartphones feature a horizontally scrolling app drawer, wherein apps are organized across multiple pages navigable through horizontal swiping gestures. This interface diverges from the standard Android experience observed on most other smartphones.
Although Samsung has not historically offered a native vertically scrolling app drawer, it previously empowered users to access this functionality through the Good Lock app. Good Lock, a comprehensive suite of modules tailored for Galaxy devices, provides users with a myriad of customization options. However, this feature was notably removed with the rollout of the One UI 6.0 update, leaving users longing for its return.

At present, Samsung smartphones have a horizontally scrolling app drawer where apps are listed in multiple pages that users can swipe through. This interface is different from what most Android smartphones offer. While the South Korean tech giant never had a native app drawer that could be scrolled up and down, it offered users the option to add it through Good Lock app, which is a large suite of modules for Galaxy devices and offers multiple customisation options for the phones. It was, however, removed with the introduction of One UI 6.0.
