iPadOS 17.5 Beta Code Hints at Upcoming iPad Pro Models with OLED Screens and Apple Pencil 3 Launch

Apple is anticipated to launch new iPad Pro models featuring OLED screens for the first time, according to recent reports. Despite the Cupertino company not yet announcing any plans for upgrading its Pro models, which were introduced nearly a year and a half ago, the latest iPadOS 17.5 developer beta reportedly includes firmware indicating that the upcoming iPad Pro models will boast new display technology. Additionally, a new Apple Pencil model might also be on the horizon.

References to a few unidentified tablet models were spotted in the code for the recently released iPadOS 17.5 developer beta by 9to5Mac. The firmware for four devices — identified as iPad16,3; iPad16,4; iPad16,5; and iPad16,6 — suggests that these upcoming models will feature OLED screens. The code also reveals some details about the suppliers for these new models, providing further hints about Apple’s future product lineup.

The clues found in the latest iPadOS 17.5 beta update indicate that the launch of new iPad Pro models and a new Apple Pencil is imminent. While Apple has yet to announce a new launch event, recent reports suggest that the company plans to introduce the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models at the beginning of May. This follows the company’s previously missed March-end launch window, adding to the anticipation surrounding these new products.

The expected introduction of OLED screens in the iPad Pro lineup marks a significant upgrade, enhancing display quality with better color accuracy, deeper blacks, and improved energy efficiency. This shift aligns with Apple’s ongoing efforts to incorporate advanced display technologies across its product range, offering users a more immersive visual experience.

Meanwhile, the new Apple Pencil model, rumored to be on the way, could bring additional features and improvements to further enhance the productivity and creative capabilities of the iPad Pro. The combination of new display technology and an upgraded Apple Pencil underscores Apple’s commitment to innovation and maintaining its competitive edge in the tablet market.

As anticipation builds, the tech community eagerly awaits Apple’s official announcements, which will confirm these speculated enhancements and provide a clearer picture of what the future holds for the iPad Pro series and its accessories.

Previous reports have also suggested that the company’s next generation Apple Pencil will also let owners track the device via the company’s Find My network, similar to the second generation AirPods Pro. We can expect to hear more about the company’s plans in the coming days or weeks, ahead of the expected debut of these devices.
