WhatsApp Enhances iOS Camera with Easy Zoom Controls for Video and Photo Capture
WhatsApp is introducing exciting new functionalities to enhance user experience on its platform, starting with beta testing on iOS. The first notable addition is a new camera zoom control feature designed to simplify the process of zooming in and out while using WhatsApp’s in-app camera. Rolled out with version 24.9.10.75 of the WhatsApp beta for iOS, this feature allows beta testers to access a dedicated zoom control button. This button enables seamless switching between different zoom levels, ensuring users can capture images and record videos with greater precision and flexibility directly within the app.
In addition to improved camera controls, WhatsApp is also testing a streamlined sticker creation process. This second feature provides users with convenient shortcuts to create stickers directly from their Camera Roll. Alternatively, users can leverage Meta AI to generate stickers effortlessly. These enhancements are intended to make the creation and sharing of personalized stickers quicker and more intuitive, catering to the diverse preferences of WhatsApp’s global user base.
Both the zoom control and sticker creation shortcuts are currently being trialed in WhatsApp beta for iOS. Once thoroughly tested and refined based on user feedback, these features are expected to be gradually rolled out to all users across iOS and Android platforms. This approach ensures that WhatsApp continues to deliver innovative tools that enhance communication and creativity within its messaging ecosystem.
According to reports from feature tracker WABetaInfo, these updates signify WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user engagement through practical and user-friendly features. By addressing common user needs such as improved camera functionality and simplified sticker creation, WhatsApp aims to maintain its position as a leading messaging platform globally.
For those eager to explore these new capabilities firsthand, joining WhatsApp’s beta testing program via TestFlight on iOS provides early access to upcoming features. Beta testers can provide valuable feedback that helps refine these enhancements before they are made available to the wider WhatsApp community. This collaborative approach ensures that WhatsApp remains responsive to user preferences and continuously evolves to meet the dynamic demands of modern communication.
As WhatsApp continues to evolve, these new features represent a step forward in empowering users with enhanced tools for visual communication and creative expression. Whether capturing moments with enhanced camera controls or personalizing conversations with custom stickers, these updates reflect WhatsApp’s commitment to enriching the messaging experience for millions of users worldwide.
Other features recently spotted in testing on beta versions of WhatsApp include a new ‘Recently Online’ list that — as the name suggests — lists contacts who were previously active on the app. Meanwhile, the service recently updated its colour palette on iOS, displaying green buttons and text throughout the app. It could eventually add support for alternative colour accents on the app, which were first spotted in development in January.
