WhatsApp to Introduce Five Chat Themes with Customizable Chat Bubble Colors
WhatsApp is currently developing a feature that will introduce a default chat theme, allowing users to personalize the color of chat bubbles within the app on their smartphones. This upcoming customization option is expected to offer a range of preset color choices and was first identified during testing by a feature tracker on a recent beta version of the iOS app. Notably, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has recently refreshed its color scheme for iOS users, incorporating a green accent across various elements like buttons and notification indicators.
WhatsApp’s Default Chat Theme Feature Unveiled The latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS 24.11.10.70, distributed through Apple’s TestFlight testing platform, revealed the presence of a new Default chat theme feature currently under development. While the feature isn’t yet accessible for users to activate, it is anticipated to become available for beta testers to explore in the near future.
Exploring the Functionality of the Default Chat Theme According to screenshots shared by the feature tracker, WhatsApp is working on integrating a chat theme selector within the app’s settings menu. Users will have the option to choose from a variety of five themes: the existing default green theme, alongside new options such as blue, grey, red, and purple. This selection will enable users to tailor the appearance of their chat interface to better suit their preferences and style.
Anticipated Rollout and User Experience As WhatsApp continues to refine this feature during its beta phase, users can anticipate broader availability for testing and eventual integration into stable app releases. The addition of customizable chat themes enhances the app’s personalization options, allowing users to create a more visually appealing and tailored messaging experience.
Meta’s Approach to App Enhancement The development of the default chat theme feature reflects Meta’s ongoing efforts to enhance WhatsApp’s functionality and user interface, responding to user feedback and evolving trends in mobile messaging. By introducing customizable themes, WhatsApp aims to offer users greater control over their app aesthetics while maintaining a streamlined and intuitive user experience.
Future Outlook As the beta testing progresses and feedback is incorporated, WhatsApp users can look forward to updates that enrich their interaction with the app through enhanced customization features. The introduction of customizable chat themes underscores WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user engagement and satisfaction across its global user base.
This new chat theme picker is expected to roll out to beta testers on iOS in the future, before it arrives on the stable channel. As most features are shared across WhatsApp for iOS and Android, we can also expect this feature to arrive on the Android version of the app in the future.
