Instagram’s new feature allows users to create audio mixes with up to 20 tracks, saving them with attribution and offering reuse options for others
Instagram has introduced a new multi-audio track feature for Reels, offering users a way to enrich their video content with up to 20 different audio tracks. This new capability allows for greater creative expression and flexibility, enabling users to craft unique audio mixes directly from their smartphones.
The update was announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who highlighted the shift in focus towards short-form content as a priority for the platform. This move aligns with recent trends where short, engaging videos have become increasingly popular among users.
With the multi-audio track support, users can now layer multiple audio clips in their Reels, giving them the ability to create complex soundscapes and synchronize audio with visual elements. This feature includes the ability to overlap audio tracks and apply fade effects, enhancing the overall production quality of the videos.
The new functionality also integrates with Instagram’s existing tools, allowing users to align audio tracks with text, add stickers, and edit clips seamlessly. This enhancement is expected to make it easier for creators to produce engaging and professionally polished content.
Additionally, Instagram has ensured that when users create and save a mix, it will be attributed to them, while others will have the option to reuse the track in their own Reels. This feature encourages creativity and collaboration within the Instagram community.
The rollout of this feature begins today, and it will be available to all users gradually. Instagram continues to refine its platform to meet the evolving needs of its users, particularly as short-form content becomes a central focus.
