Apple’s new Watch for kids includes a special mode for limiting notifications, restricting app access, and enabling Do Not Disturb during school hours.
Apple has officially launched its new Apple Watch designed specifically for children in India. This feature allows parents to set up cellular Apple Watch models for their kids, enabling them to make calls and send messages independently from an iPhone. While the concept of setting up an Apple Watch without an iPhone has been around for some time, the introduction of this dedicated “Apple Watch For Your Kids” functionality marks a significant enhancement tailored for younger users.
The “For Your Kids” mode allows children to connect with family and friends through the Apple Watch, provided they have the cellular version of the device. This setup grants access to essential communication, health, fitness, and safety features, all while incorporating parental controls to manage the child’s usage. Parents can approve specific contacts, ensuring that their children can only communicate with trusted individuals.
In terms of safety, the Apple Watch for kids includes several built-in features designed to give both children and parents peace of mind. The Emergency SOS feature allows children to quickly call for help if needed. Apple Maps helps them navigate their way home, and the Find People feature enables them to share their location with family members or locate others.
The new Apple Watch is also equipped with school-time mode, which restricts notifications, blocks certain apps, and activates Do Not Disturb during school hours. This feature aims to minimize distractions and help children focus on their education.
The Apple Watch for kids is being promoted through a dedicated page on Apple’s website, which outlines its features and benefits. The company emphasizes that this new offering provides a secure and controlled environment for children to enjoy the benefits of a smartwatch while allowing parents to oversee their activities.
With this launch, Apple continues to expand its wearable technology into new markets and user demographics, providing a tailored experience for families and enhancing connectivity and safety for younger users.
