HMD Barbie Phone Features a 0.3-Megapixel Main Camera
HMD has officially launched the Barbie Phone in select global markets, marking a nostalgic return to the classic flip phone design with a vibrant Barbie aesthetic. The handset features an all-pink exterior, including a pink battery and charger, which complements its playful design. The phone’s packaging is equally charming, arriving in a jewelry box that includes the phone, beaded lanyards with charms, two extra back covers, and a selection of stickers and gems. This unique presentation aligns perfectly with the Barbie theme, making it as much a collectible item as a functional device.
In terms of pricing and availability, the HMD Barbie Phone is set to retail for $129 in the US, approximately Rs. 10,800. It will be available for purchase starting October 1, with pre-orders opening on September 23 through the HMD US website. The phone will be offered in a single Power Pink colorway, with both the battery and the included USB Type-C charger matching the phone’s vibrant hue. As of now, there is no confirmation regarding its release in India.
The HMD Barbie Phone is equipped with a 2.8-inch QVGA main display and a smaller 1.77-inch QQVGA cover screen. Notably, the outer display also doubles as a mirror, adding to the phone’s unique design features. Under the hood, the phone is powered by a Unisoc T107 SoC, coupled with 64MB of RAM and 128MB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a MicroSD card. It runs on the S30+ OS, which includes a Barbie-themed user interface, further enhancing its appeal to fans of the iconic doll.
The phone also includes a 0.3-megapixel main camera, which, while modest in terms of resolution, fits the phone’s retro design and intended use. This addition reflects the phone’s focus on style and nostalgia rather than advanced technological features. The HMD Barbie Phone also comes with a pre-installed beach-themed Malibu Snake game, adding an extra layer of fun to the user experience.
Overall, the HMD Barbie Phone is a delightful blend of nostalgia and playful design, targeted at fans of Barbie and those who appreciate classic mobile phone aesthetics. Its unique features and limited-edition packaging make it a standout choice for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
