FromSoftware Focuses on New Projects, No Plans for Elden Ring 2, Says Hidetaka Miyazaki

Miyazaki Addresses Elden Ring’s Future
Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director behind Elden Ring and the president of FromSoftware, spoke candidly about the future of the Elden Ring franchise during the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia event. In an interview, Miyazaki clarified that FromSoftware does not have any concrete plans for a follow-up to the highly successful RPG. “We don’t have any particular plans for Elden Ring 2,” he stated, dashing hopes for a direct sequel in the near future. His comments confirm that FromSoftware is not rushing to revisit the Elden Ring universe immediately.

Although Miyazaki dismissed immediate plans for a sequel, he left the door open for future projects within the Elden Ring universe. He expressed that while the studio is not currently focused on a sequel, it is not ruling out the possibility of expanding the IP in other forms. “I would like to tell you that we are not ruling out the development of the IP ‘Elden Ring’ in some form in the future,” Miyazaki remarked, suggesting that fans may see new content or spin-offs, even if a traditional sequel isn’t in the cards.
