Pioneering Power: Xiaomi’s 14 Series Leads the Way as the First Phones to Showcase Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC

Xiaomi made waves in the Chinese smartphone market with the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series in October last year, featuring the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and the HyperOS operating system. While the series is yet to make its debut in India, the rumor mill is already abuzz with speculations about Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship smartphones. The much-anticipated Xiaomi 15 series is rumored to be powered by the next-generation Qualcomm flagship processor and is expected to mark its official unveiling in September.

According to insights shared by tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the Xiaomi 15 series is anticipated to showcase Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. These smartphones are rumored to feature displays with a remarkable 1.5K resolution, promising a visually stunning user experience. Notably, the Xiaomi 14 series had the distinction of being the first set of phones to introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

Earlier leaks have hinted at the commencement of mass production for the Xiaomi 15 lineup in September. The standard model is expected to retain a flat display with a screen size similar to its predecessors, Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 13. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 15 Pro is speculated to boast a slightly curved 2K display with narrow 0.6mm bezels, adding a touch of sophistication to its design.

 

 

As with any pre-launch rumors, it’s important to approach these details with a degree of skepticism until Xiaomi officially unveils the Xiaomi 15 series and provides concrete specifications and features. The anticipation builds as Xiaomi enthusiasts await the official word from the company on its upcoming flagship lineup.

Xiaomi’s 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro were launched in China in October. The price of Xiaomi 14 Pro starts at CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 56,500) for the 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage model whereas the Xiaomi 14 is priced at CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 50,000) for the 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage variant. There is no official word yet on their debut in markets outside China.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC powers Xiaomi’s 14 series. They run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS interface and feature up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. They also have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The Xiaomi 14 series has LTPO OLED displays with up to 2K resolution and 120Hz dynamic refresh rate. They have a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup as well.
