Google Pixel Device Surfaces on Certification Site Boasting 5,000mAh Battery: Potential Hint at Pixel 8a Model

Anticipated Release: Google Pixel 8a Likely Unveiled at May’s I/O Event

Following the unveiling of the Google Pixel 8 series in October 2023, consisting of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models, speculation has been rife about the potential inclusion of a Pixel 8a variant in the lineup. While Google has not yet officially confirmed the existence of such a device, numerous leaks and rumors circulating online have provided glimpses into its anticipated features and design aesthetics. The latest development in this ongoing saga comes from a recent report, suggesting that the Google Pixel 8a, purportedly slated for release later this year, has been sighted on a certification site, offering insights into its battery specifications and hinting at its impending arrival.

According to a report by 91Mobiles, a Google Pixel device bearing the model number GH2MB was recently spotted listed on the UL Demko certification website. Notably, the listing indicates that this particular handset could house a battery with a rated capacity of 4,942mAh, with an anticipated typical capacity of 5,000mAh.

While initial speculation suggests that this device could indeed be the long-rumored Google Pixel 8a, the report also raises the possibility that it might belong to Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 series. This ambiguity stems from Google’s historical tendency to equip its flagship models with larger battery capacities, as evidenced by the 5,050mAh battery found in the Pixel 8 Pro and the 4,575mAh battery featured in the base Pixel 8 model.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding the exact identity of the device spotted on the certification site, the emergence of this information has only served to fuel anticipation among tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting Google’s next offering in the Pixel lineup.

As the rumor mill continues to churn and speculation runs rampant, all eyes are on Google’s upcoming announcements, particularly those expected to coincide with the company’s flagship events, such as the annual Google I/O conference, which traditionally takes place in May. Until then, enthusiasts will undoubtedly remain on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting official confirmation and further details regarding the highly anticipated Google Pixel 8a.

The Google Pixel 8a is expected to be announced in May this year at the company’s I/O event. The purported model is expected to support 27W wired charging and measure 152.1mm x 72.6mm x 8.9mm in size. Leaked retail packaging of the handset showed it in a black colour option with a dual camera setup alongside an LED flash arranged horizontally on a raised, visor-like camera module. Previously, leaked renders of the smartphone have appeared with a similar design to the base Pixel 8 model.

The Google Pixel 8 launched in India at Rs. 75,999 for the 8GB + 128GB option, while the 8GB + 256GB model was listed at Rs. 82,999. The Pixel 8 Pro is priced at Rs. 1,06,999 for the 12GB + 128GB variant, and the high-end 12GB + 256GB option is marked at Rs. 1,13,999.
