OnePlus Watch 2: India Launch Date, Design, and Details Confirmed; Pre-Reservations Available

OnePlus Watch 2: Stainless Steel Chassis and Sapphire Crystal Watch Face Highlighted

OnePlus has unveiled the eagerly anticipated OnePlus Watch 2 ahead of its official launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. Set to debut on February 26 at 8:30pm IST (4:00pm CET), this latest iteration of the smartwatch marks the arrival of a successor to the original OnePlus Watch, which made its debut in 2021. While detailed specifications remain under wraps, the consumer tech brand has provided insights into the design and battery performance of the OnePlus Watch 2.

In a departure from conventional announcement strategies, OnePlus opted to share the launch date and tease select features of the OnePlus Watch 2 through a community post on its website. Accompanying this announcement, the company has rolled out a dedicated microsite for the smartwatch, enabling enthusiasts to pre-reserve their devices via a pre-reserve pass. Notably, the initial allocation of 1500 passes has been swiftly claimed by eager consumers, underscoring the anticipation surrounding the OnePlus Watch 2.

Highlighted in the announcement post is the OnePlus Watch 2’s premium construction, featuring a stainless-steel chassis and a sapphire crystal glass watch face. Available in sleek Black Steel and Radiant Steel color options, the smartwatch exudes sophistication and durability.

Notably, OnePlus touts an impressive battery life of up to 100 hours in “full Smart Mode,” positioning the OnePlus Watch 2 as a formidable contender in the competitive smartwatch market. If realized, this battery performance surpasses that of the Apple Watch Series 9, which typically offers around two and a half days of battery life in its low-power mode.

Some focus was also given to ecosystem building as the post mentioned the recently launched products such as the foldable OnePlus Open, OnePlus Buds Pro 2, and OnePlus Tab. However, no ecosystem features were mentioned. The phrase “meticulous health monitoring” also appeared, hinting that it may get some big upgrades in terms of health tracking.

Earlier reports have leaked some more key specifications of the upcoming smartwatch. The OnePlus Watch 2 could feature a 1.43-inch AMOLED and be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset. It is expected to run on Wear OS, however, whether it will be Wear OS 3 or Wear OS 4 remains unknown. A landing page has also been created on Amazon that mentions the same launch date and time, confirming that it might be available in India at the same time as its global launch.
