Introducing Smart Connect: Seamless Integration Between Brand and Lenovo Devices

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, Motorola sent shockwaves through the tech industry with its announcement of a groundbreaking partnership with Corning. This strategic alliance signifies a significant shift in the company’s approach to device durability and user experience. With this deal, Motorola pledges to integrate Corning’s renowned Gorilla Glass across its entire product lineup for the year 2024, encompassing both smartphones and tablets slated for release. The decision underscores Motorola’s commitment to delivering products of uncompromising quality and resilience to its global consumer base.

Set to commence implementation in the latter half of the year, the incorporation of Gorilla Glass into Motorola’s devices marks a pivotal moment in the company’s trajectory. By ensuring that even its entry-level offerings boast the superior protection afforded by Gorilla Glass, Motorola aims to democratize advanced technology, making it accessible to a broader spectrum of users. This move not only enhances the durability and longevity of Motorola devices but also reinforces the brand’s reputation for innovation and customer-centricity.

Moreover, alongside the Corning partnership announcement, Motorola introduced another game-changing feature: Smart Connect. This innovative software bridges the gap between smartphones, PCs, and tablets, facilitating seamless connectivity within an integrated ecosystem.

With Smart Connect, users can effortlessly link their Motorola devices with Lenovo’s lineup of laptops, enriching the cross-device experience and empowering users to seamlessly transition between different platforms. This strategic move not only enhances user convenience but also positions Motorola as a pioneer in fostering interconnectedness and synergy across its product ecosystem.

While the announcement did not mention which Gorilla Glass will be used, a report by 9to5Google highlighted that during a demo at MWC, the company showcased Gorilla Glass 5 and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. For the users, this move will result in more scratch and drop-resistant displays even in the budget segment, however, it is not known whether there will be an impact on the prices as a result of it.

In a separate post, Motorola also announced the launch of Smart Connect, a new software that offers unified connectivity between the brand’s smartphones, tablets and Lenovo’s laptops and PCs. The move is aimed at creating an ecosystem between the different devices, similar to what Apple, Samsung, Google, and some Chinese brands already have.

Revealing some of the features that users will be able to access through Smart Connect, Motorola highlighted Cross Control, which will enable using a single keyboard and mouse between a phone, laptop, and tablet. The Swipe to Stream feature will let users pick any app or activity from one device to another in a seamless fashion. Other mentioned features include Notification Sync, Share Hub, Smart Clipboard, and more.
