Fortnite is set to return to iOS in Europe (confirmed this time)

The reinstatement of Epic Games’ developer account by Apple in Europe marks a significant development in the ongoing dispute between the two companies. With access to publish iOS apps restored, Epic Games can proceed with its plans to launch the Epic Games Store and bring Fortnite back to iOS devices in Europe.

The decision follows earlier tensions between Apple and Epic Games, exacerbated by Apple’s termination of Epic’s European developer account. However, after discussions between the two parties, Apple has agreed to reinstate the account, citing Epic’s commitment to adhere to the rules, including those outlined in the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Epic Games’ CEO, Tim Sweeney, had previously criticized Apple’s actions and called attention to the European Commission’s fine against Apple for anticompetitive behavior. The restoration of Epic’s developer account signals a resolution to the immediate conflict and reinforces the European Commission’s commitment to enforcing the DMA.

Moving forward, Epic Games is poised to launch its Epic Games Store and reintroduce Fortnite to iOS users in Europe, marking a positive step in restoring access to the popular game on Apple’s platform.
