EA Unveils Star Wars Zero Company, Announces 2026 Release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X

Electronic Arts has officially announced its upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player, turn-based tactics title developed in collaboration with Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games. Set towards the conclusion of the Clone Wars, the game promises a “gritty and authentic” narrative, featuring an unconventional squad of operatives who are tasked with combating a new, galaxy-threatening danger. Scheduled for release in 2026, Star Wars Zero Company will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X.

The game was first teased following a leak, but it was officially revealed during the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan. In Star Wars Zero Company, players will take on the role of Hawk, a former Republic officer who is now leading a team of elite mercenaries. The operatives that make up Zero Company are as diverse as they come, hailing from different corners of the Star Wars universe. Players will encounter familiar Star Wars archetypes such as astromechs, Jedi, and droids, each with unique personalities and combat skills, contributing to the game’s tactical depth.

Alongside the announcement, EA revealed a trailer showcasing both cinematic scenes and gameplay footage, giving fans a glimpse into the strategic gameplay they can expect. Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director at Bit Reactor, described the game’s design philosophy as being deeply integrated with the immersive Star Wars galaxy. He emphasized that Star Wars Zero Company would offer players an original storyline set during the Clone Wars era, where their choices will have meaningful consequences. The tactical combat is designed to be both deep and approachable, with a cinematic presentation to enhance the overall experience.

Players will guide Zero Company through a series of tactical operations and investigations, spanning various locations across the galaxy. In addition to strategic combat, players will also be responsible for developing a base of operations. Customization plays a key role in the game, with players able to personalize Hawk’s appearance and combat class. The rest of the operatives can be selected from a wide range of Star Wars character classes and species, allowing for further customization in terms of appearances, loadouts, and abilities. With its rich lore and tactical gameplay, Star Wars Zero Company is shaping up to be a unique and immersive addition to the Star Wars franchise.

Sony Slashes Prices on PS5 Slim Models in ‘Summer Sale’ Offer: Check the New Prices

Sony Launches ‘Summer Sale’ Offering Discounts on PS5 Slim Models in India

Sony has kicked off a limited-time “summer sale” in India, offering discounts on select PlayStation 5 slim models. This exciting offer is available for a limited period, starting Thursday, April 17, and continuing until May 14, or until stocks last. As part of this promotion, the PS5 slim models are receiving a price cut of Rs. 5,000, making them more affordable for gamers looking to grab the latest console.

The PS5 slim sale includes two specific models: the PS5 slim physical edition (CFI-2008A) and the PS5 slim digital edition (CFI-2008B). The physical edition, which features a Blu-Ray disc drive, is now priced at Rs. 49,990, down from its usual retail price of Rs. 54,990. Meanwhile, the digital edition, which does not have a disc drive, is available for Rs. 39,990, down from Rs. 44,990. These discounts make the PlayStation 5 even more accessible for those interested in upgrading their gaming setup or jumping into next-gen gaming.

The sale is live on various online and offline platforms, including Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, and more participating retailers. However, it’s important to note that the offer only applies to the PS5 slim models and excludes accessories, the PS VR2, and the PS Portal remote player. This promotion follows a recent price hike in other regions like Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as Australia and New Zealand, where Sony increased the retail price of the PS5 due to higher tariffs and inflationary pressures. However, the prices in the US and India have remained unchanged for now.

The PS5 slim models, introduced in India on April 5, 2024, are thinner and lighter than the original PS5, offering a sleeker design while maintaining the same high-quality performance. These slim versions replaced the older PS5 models and provide a more compact option for gamers without sacrificing the core gaming experience. With this summer sale, Sony aims to provide even greater value for customers looking to enjoy the full capabilities of next-gen gaming at a more attractive price.

Microsoft Plans to Bring Xbox Games to Nintendo Switch 2, According to Phil Spencer

Microsoft has confirmed its plans to bring Xbox games to the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, following the console’s official reveal earlier this month. During a recent interview, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer expressed his commitment to supporting the new system, highlighting the importance of reaching new audiences and expanding Xbox’s community. Spencer’s comments follow Nintendo’s announcement of several exciting first-party titles for the Switch 2, as well as new games from third-party developers that will launch alongside the console in 2025.

Spencer emphasized the unique opportunity the Switch 2 provides for Microsoft, allowing the company to connect with players who may not own a PC or Xbox console. “Nintendo has been a great partner,” Spencer stated, underscoring the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with the gaming giant. By supporting the Switch 2, Microsoft aims to continue growing its community and ensuring its popular game franchises reach as many players as possible. This collaboration is expected to bring the best of both worlds to gamers, merging Nintendo’s innovative gaming experiences with Xbox’s extensive game library.

While specific titles have not yet been announced, Spencer’s remarks indicate that Xbox games will indeed find a home on Nintendo’s upcoming console. While no official announcements were made during Nintendo’s Direct showcase, rumors have circulated that several high-profile Xbox games could be making their way to the Switch 2. These games are expected to introduce more diverse gaming options for Nintendo fans, further solidifying the platform as a versatile choice for gamers across different ecosystems.

Microsoft’s decision to support the Nintendo Switch 2 represents a significant shift in the gaming landscape, where cross-platform support and collaboration between major players are becoming increasingly common. Spencer’s confidence in the partnership highlights the growing importance of expanding accessibility to games and ensuring that players on different consoles can share in the enjoyment of beloved titles. As the industry moves toward a more interconnected future, Microsoft and Nintendo’s ongoing collaboration could be a pivotal moment for gaming in the coming years.
