Sony WH-1000XM6 Leak Reveals Pricing and Key Specs, Including Up to 30-Hour Battery Life

Sony is gearing up to launch the WH-1000XM6 headphones, the anticipated successor to the popular WH-1000XM5 model. Although Sony has yet to officially confirm the release date, key details about the new wireless headset have already surfaced online. The WH-1000XM6 is expected to debut at a higher price point compared to its predecessor, reflecting upgraded features and enhanced audio performance. The WH-1000XM5 originally launched globally in May 2022 and arrived in India later that September, setting a high bar for its successor.

According to recent leaks, the WH-1000XM6 headphones could launch in select markets as early as May 15. Pricing rumors suggest the headset will retail for around EUR 449.99 in countries like France and Germany, and slightly higher at EUR 469.99 in Spain and Portugal. In the UK, the expected price is about GBP 399.99, while US customers may see a price tag near $449.99. Battery life is expected to improve, with the WH-1000XM6 offering up to 30 hours of playback on a single charge. Additionally, a quick charge of just three minutes could provide an hour of listening time, with charging via a USB Type-C port.

The headphones are said to feature Sony’s QN3 processor, which dynamically adjusts active noise cancellation based on the surrounding environment. Along with active noise cancellation, the WH-1000XM6 is rumored to include an Ambient Sound Mode and a Talk Mode, allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings or engage in conversations without removing the headset. Other expected features include touch controls for easy navigation, wear detection to pause playback when removed, and call noise reduction to improve voice clarity.

In terms of audio hardware, the WH-1000XM6 may be equipped with 30mm carbon fiber dome drivers designed to deliver rich sound quality. The headset is expected to support Hi-Res Audio, LDAC codec, as well as popular formats like SBC, AAC, and LC3. It will likely cover a wide frequency range from 4Hz to 40kHz, catering to audiophiles and casual listeners alike. Compatibility with Sony’s Sound Connect app is anticipated, providing users with 10-band equalizer customization and personalized sound settings.

Sony Set to Reveal New Xperia Flagship Launch Event

Sony is preparing to unveil what could be its next flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, during a launch event. While the company has not officially confirmed the device name, strong hints from official promotions and multiple leaks point toward the successor to the Xperia 1 VI, which debuted in May 2024. This upcoming launch marks Sony’s continued commitment to its Xperia line, which caters to photography enthusiasts and fans of premium design in niche global markets.

In a recent announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Sony confirmed that the event will take place at 4am CEST (10pm IST) and will be streamed live on its official YouTube channel. The teaser image released by the company features the silhouette of a smartphone, strongly suggesting the focus of the event will be the Xperia 1 VII. Anticipation is high as Sony rarely releases multiple flagships annually, and each model tends to bring targeted improvements in imaging and display technology.

Adding to the speculation, a device believed to be the Xperia 1 VII recently appeared on benchmarking site Geekbench under the model number XQ-FS54. The listing suggests it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 “Elite” chipset and equipped with 12GB of RAM. The phone is also rumored to run Android 15 out of the box, making it one of the first flagships to do so. Certification listings from Taiwan’s NCC further hint at three colour variants—black, navy green, and purple—and a likely triple rear camera setup featuring Sony’s own Exmor-T sensor technology.

Dimensions revealed through leaks suggest the Xperia 1 VII may be slightly taller than its predecessor, measuring 165mm in length versus the Xperia 1 VI’s 162mm. With a focus on professional-grade photography, sleek design, and custom software enhancements, Sony appears poised to once again carve out a unique space in the premium Android segment. The May 13 event should offer clarity on specs, features, and the official rollout timeline for this anticipated device.

Sony Slashes Prices on PS5 Slim Models in ‘Summer Sale’ Offer: Check the New Prices

Sony Launches ‘Summer Sale’ Offering Discounts on PS5 Slim Models in India

Sony has kicked off a limited-time “summer sale” in India, offering discounts on select PlayStation 5 slim models. This exciting offer is available for a limited period, starting Thursday, April 17, and continuing until May 14, or until stocks last. As part of this promotion, the PS5 slim models are receiving a price cut of Rs. 5,000, making them more affordable for gamers looking to grab the latest console.

The PS5 slim sale includes two specific models: the PS5 slim physical edition (CFI-2008A) and the PS5 slim digital edition (CFI-2008B). The physical edition, which features a Blu-Ray disc drive, is now priced at Rs. 49,990, down from its usual retail price of Rs. 54,990. Meanwhile, the digital edition, which does not have a disc drive, is available for Rs. 39,990, down from Rs. 44,990. These discounts make the PlayStation 5 even more accessible for those interested in upgrading their gaming setup or jumping into next-gen gaming.

The sale is live on various online and offline platforms, including Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, and more participating retailers. However, it’s important to note that the offer only applies to the PS5 slim models and excludes accessories, the PS VR2, and the PS Portal remote player. This promotion follows a recent price hike in other regions like Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as Australia and New Zealand, where Sony increased the retail price of the PS5 due to higher tariffs and inflationary pressures. However, the prices in the US and India have remained unchanged for now.

The PS5 slim models, introduced in India on April 5, 2024, are thinner and lighter than the original PS5, offering a sleeker design while maintaining the same high-quality performance. These slim versions replaced the older PS5 models and provide a more compact option for gamers without sacrificing the core gaming experience. With this summer sale, Sony aims to provide even greater value for customers looking to enjoy the full capabilities of next-gen gaming at a more attractive price.
