Here is a look at the best gaming laptops launched in 2023 from top brands.
HP Victus gaming laptop
HP’s latest entry-level Victus gaming laptop is the perfect illustration of how an entry-level gaming laptop should be. At Rs 51,990, this is a fantastic gaming PC, an all-AMD device with the Ryzen 5 5600H CPU and Radeon RX 6500M graphics card with 4GB video memory.
The laptop even includes a large 15.6-inch screen with 1080p resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. This is a tailor-made laptop for students as it is also a good notebook to take notes, run intensive apps, and even watch movies with B&O-tuned speakers. Despite being a budget gaming laptop, it has a futuristic design with an I/O selection that is on point.
Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3
The 2023 edition of the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 is yet another great entry-level gaming laptop that was launched this year for Rs 67,990. This comes with the latest Ryzen 5 6600H CPU and a more capable RTX 3050 GPU. However, the 4 GB video memory is a bit limiting, especially while playing modern AAA titles.
While it has a 120Hz 15.6-inch screen and the device offers 16 GB of RAM as standard, which is again, plenty enough even for heavy users, there is an option to upgrade up to 32 GB of RAM. Not just for gamers, this is also an excellent laptop for content creators, including photo and video editors.
Acer Nitro V
Priced at Rs 79,990, the Acer Nitro V offers excellent and up-to-date specifications, including the Intel Core i5-13420H CPU and the RTX 4050 mobile GPU with 6 GB of video memory. The key highlight of this laptop is its design, and it is easily one of the best-looking gaming laptops at this price point. Not only that, it is also on the thinner side.
The Acer Nitro V offers a high-resolution 15.6-inch FHD screen, which is sharper with a wider 16:9 aspect ratio and 144Hz refresh rate. This laptop, by offering the latest hybrid CPU from Intel featuring P and E cores enabled an enhanced power efficiency and increased multi-core performance and the latest GPU from NVIDIA also enables the latest DLSS technology, allowing users to play the latest games at much higher resolution and frame rate compared to competition.
ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2023)
This is the most gaming-themed gaming laptop under Rs 1,00,000 price mark. From RGB lighting all around the device to the Intel Core i5-13450HX gaming-centric CPU, there is a lot to like about this machine. While it still has an RTX 3050 GPU like the IdeaPad Gaming 3, it is paired with 6 GB of video memory, hence, games like Cyberpunk should really work well on this device.
There is also a 165Hz refresh rate display and a 4-zone RGB keyboard, and this machine also offers 16 GB of RAM. While the storage is limited to 512 GB, there are two additional NVMe slots, which makes upgrading the storage a lot easier. The Asus Rog Strix G16 is priced at Rs 86,990.
MSI Pulse 15
This is a mid-range gaming laptop with all the bells and whistles that one wants from a modern machine, especially at a much lower price than the competition. Pulse 15, as the name suggests is a 15-inch gaming laptop with the high-performance Intel Core i7-13700H CPU and RTX 4070 GPU. Not just that, the laptop is also equipped with a highly capable 2K resolution QHD display with up to 165 Hz refresh rate, and all this for Rs 1,48,990, while laptops with similar specifications from other brands cost over Rs 2 lakh.
For users who like to store a lot of games on the laptop, the Pulse 15 offers 1 TB of storage by default along with 16 GB of RAM. On top of that, this laptop also has an enhanced cooling solution, which ensures sustained peak performance even with continued usage.
Dell Alienware m18 R1
The Dell Alienware m18 R1 is clearly one of the most powerful and expensive gaming laptops of 2023. Priced at Rs 4,50,990, this laptop offers desktop-like gaming performance on a laptop form factor and includes a massive 18-inch QHD+ resolution screen with 165Hz refresh rate and the graphics are handled by the RTX 4090 mobile with a whopping 16 GB video memory.
Despite offering desktop-class performance, it is still a mobile device. While it might not be as easy to carry around as a regular 15-inch laptop, it just weighs 2.72 kg, which makes it ever so slightly heavier than a 16-inch gaming laptop.
The Intel Core i9-13980HX also makes it an excellent laptop for tasks like the 4K edition, and there is also a lower-end version of the Alienware m18 R1 with the RTX 4080, which is almost a lakh cheaper than this model.
The gaming laptop trend in 2023 was marked by higher refresh rate displays, even in budget offerings, for a smoother gaming experience. Entry-level models often featured previous year’s hardware, making them more affordable. Looking ahead to next year, we anticipate the emergence of more AI-capable PCs, enhancing capabilities for gamers and streamers alike.
