Airtel to Offer Exclusive Access to Apple Services for Customers in India Later This Year

Bharti Airtel has unveiled new special offers for Apple TV+ and Apple Music, enhancing the value of its subscription plans in India. This partnership, announced on Tuesday, will bundle these popular Apple services with select Airtel prepaid and postpaid plans. The offers are set to benefit both mobile and Wi-Fi subscribers of Airtel, marking a significant expansion in the company’s service offerings. This move aligns with Airtel’s recent efforts to enhance its network infrastructure, including the expansion of its 5G coverage and the introduction of 5G booster packs earlier this year.

Partnership Details

According to the press release, Airtel Xstream, which is Airtel’s Wi-Fi service, will now include Apple TV+ in its bundle with certain premium plans. This integration brings Apple’s streaming content to Airtel’s broadband customers, adding value to their existing internet services. While Airtel Xstream plans have traditionally included subscriptions to popular OTT platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Sony LIV, Disney+ Hotstar, and Netflix, Apple TV+ was not previously included. The new offer changes this, providing subscribers with access to Apple’s original programming and movies.

Expanding Subscriber Benefits

In addition to Airtel Xstream, the new offers will also apply to Airtel’s postpaid mobile plans, giving users access to both Apple TV+ and Apple Music. This initiative aims to enhance the attractiveness of Airtel’s postpaid plans by including premium digital content services that cater to a wide range of entertainment and music preferences. By bundling these services, Airtel is positioning itself as a provider that delivers added value beyond just connectivity.

Industry Impact

This strategic partnership between Airtel and Apple reflects a broader trend where telecom companies collaborate with content providers to enhance their service offerings. For Apple, this deal represents an opportunity to expand its user base in India, a rapidly growing market for digital content. For Airtel, it provides a competitive edge in the telecommunications sector by offering exclusive content that could attract new customers and retain existing ones.

Remarks from Apple

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We are thrilled that Airtel customers in India will soon be able to enjoy all of the incredible content on Apple TV+ and Apple Music,” Schusser said in a statement. This endorsement highlights the significance of the partnership for both companies and emphasizes the high-quality content available through Apple’s services.

Future Developments

The inclusion of Apple TV+ and Apple Music in Airtel’s plans is just one of many developments as the company continues to expand its digital ecosystem. With ongoing upgrades to its 5G network and additional services in the pipeline, Airtel is likely to continue enhancing its offerings to meet the evolving needs of its customers. The partnership with Apple represents a significant step in this direction, promising an enriched experience for subscribers and setting a precedent for future collaborations.

In conclusion, Airtel’s new offers on Apple TV+ and Apple Music mark a significant enhancement to its subscription plans, providing valuable content services to both mobile and Wi-Fi users. As the company continues to evolve its service portfolio, this partnership with Apple is likely to attract more customers and strengthen Airtel’s position in the competitive Indian telecommunications market.
