Honor Confirms China Launch Date for 400 Series with Major Battery Upgrade
Honor has officially announced that the Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro smartphones will debut in China on May 28 at 7:30 pm local time (5:00 pm IST). The company has been teasing key features ahead of the launch, highlighting significant improvements over the previous generation, especially in battery capacity and chipset performance. Both models are confirmed to run on powerful Snapdragon processors and will sport notably larger batteries compared to the Honor 300 series, alongside premium build quality featuring a metal middle frame.
The Honor 400 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, while the 400 Pro is expected to feature a “new generation Snapdragon flagship chip,” likely the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC. Both devices boast an impressive 7,200mAh battery—an upgrade from last year’s 5,300mAh capacity in the Honor 300 series. These enhancements aim to deliver extended usage times and improved overall performance for users who demand longer battery life and faster processing power.
For global markets, however, the battery specifications differ slightly. According to listings on the Honor UK website, the international variants of the Honor 400 and Honor 400 Pro are equipped with 6,000mAh batteries. The Pro model supports fast charging at 100W wired and 50W wireless speeds, while the vanilla model offers 80W wired charging. This makes the global versions more versatile in charging options, balancing capacity and speed.
In terms of camera and design, the Honor 400 Pro features a triple rear camera setup that includes a massive 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. The front camera is a sharp 50-megapixel shooter. It also comes with IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance certifications. The Honor 400 offers a dual rear camera system with the same 200-megapixel main sensor paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel front camera, boasting an IP66 rating. Both phones will come in several color options, including Lunar Grey, Midnight Black, and Tidal Blue for the Pro, and Desert Gold, Midnight Black, and Meteor Silver for the base model.
