Turkey Probes Google Over Advertising Practices

Turkish Competition Board has launched an investigation into Google and its parent Alphabet Inc. over concerns related to advertising and billing practices.

The probe will examine whether Google’s commercial conduct in its online advertising services violates Turkish competition laws. Authorities are focusing on how the company charges advertisers and advertising agencies, as well as whether its billing systems and practices create unfair market conditions.

Regulators have not yet concluded whether any violations occurred, but the investigation signals increasing scrutiny of major technology firms in digital advertising markets.

Google has faced similar regulatory pressure globally, as governments assess the dominance of large platforms in online advertising and their relationships with clients and partners.

The outcome of the investigation could lead to fines or regulatory changes if authorities determine that competition rules have been breached.

Gmail’s AI Inbox Feature With Smart Prioritisation Rolls Out for Google AI Ultra Subscribers in the US

Gmail is rolling out its AI-powered Inbox feature to select Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US, expanding on the Gemini-driven updates it introduced earlier this year. The new feature adds a dedicated AI view within Gmail that highlights priority emails, surfaces actionable tasks, and groups less urgent updates into summaries. It is said to be designed to reduce inbox clutter and help users quickly focus on what matters most, building on Google’s broader push to integrate AI more deeply across its email experience.

Gmail’s AI Inbox Feature Splits Email Into Two Sections
Gmail said in an X post that it has introduced an AI-powered Inbox with smart prioritisation and personalised briefings, now rolling out in beta to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US. The new AI Inbox appears as a separate view alongside the traditional inbox and is designed to surface priority information, rather than requiring users to scan individual emails.

The AI Inbox feature splits emails into two sections. While suggested to-dos highlight messages that need action, such as bills, reminders, or deadlines, and show what needs to be done, topics to catch up on cover less urgent updates, grouping things like travel plans, events, and purchases into quick summaries. These appear as interactive cards that link back to the original emails.

AI Inbox was first introduced to a small group of testers in January and is now rolling out in beta. It runs on Gemini 3 and processes data within what Google describes as a dedicated privacy environment. Users can turn off AI features through Gmail settings, and the company says personal Workspace data is not used to train its AI models.

 

Google to Label Verified Investment Apps in India

Alphabet Inc.’s Google will introduce verification labels for investment apps on its app store in India, aiming to help users identify legitimate platforms and avoid scams.

The initiative will allow only brokers and intermediaries registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India to receive a verified badge. This is expected to make it easier for users to distinguish approved financial services from fraudulent apps impersonating them.

The move comes as authorities increase efforts to combat rising online investment scams, particularly those targeting retail users through mobile platforms. By tightening visibility and trust signals within the app ecosystem, regulators hope to reduce financial fraud and improve consumer protection.

The decision highlights growing collaboration between regulators and major technology platforms as digital finance expands and risks associated with unverified services increase.
