Prime Video’s highly anticipated crime-thriller series Cross is set to premiere on November 14, 2024, bringing a fresh perspective to the iconic character of Alex Cross, with Aldis Hodge taking on the lead role. Adapted from the bestselling books by James Patterson, this new series delves deeper into the complex life of Cross, a forensic psychologist and veteran detective in Washington D.C. While previous film adaptations of the character focused primarily on his investigative prowess, Cross offers a more intimate look at his personal struggles, family relationships, and the emotional weight of his profession, giving audiences a richer, more nuanced portrayal.
The series is the brainchild of Ben Watkins, who serves as both creator and executive producer. Watkins has crafted a version of Alex Cross that is more human and multifaceted than previous portrayals. Hodge’s performance is expected to highlight Cross’s emotional complexity, showing a man who is not only a brilliant detective but also someone dealing with profound personal losses and the moral dilemmas that arise from his work. The storyline offers a balance between high-stakes crime-solving and an exploration of Cross’s vulnerabilities, offering a deeper emotional connection with the character.
Season 1 of Cross will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting November 14, with all eight episodes released at once. This binge-friendly format allows viewers to dive straight into the intense drama without the typical wait between episodes. Prime Video’s decision to drop the entire season aligns with its strategy of catering to audiences who prefer to watch shows in one go, especially those drawn to gripping crime thrillers. Fans of the genre will be able to experience the twists and turns of the narrative at their own pace, making it a highly anticipated release for thrill-seekers and binge-watchers alike.
The trailer for Cross sets the stage for a thrilling ride, introducing viewers to a relentless investigation led by Cross and his partner, John Sampson (played by Isaiah Mustafa). As they track down a brutal serial killer, Cross must also confront dark secrets from his own past that threaten to tear apart his family. The series promises a tense mix of psychological drama, action, and personal conflict as Cross navigates the demands of his career while struggling to protect those he loves. With its compelling blend of crime-solving and emotional depth, Cross is poised to become a must-watch for fans of high-stakes thrillers.
