Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, marking the end of their two-year marriage. The filing was submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court on the anniversary of their 2022 wedding ceremony in Riceboro, Georgia, which followed their elopement in Las Vegas. The news comes after months of speculation about their relationship, with reports indicating that Lopez had canceled her summer tour to focus on family, and the couple had put their Beverly Hills home on the market.
The couple’s relationship has been in the public eye for over two decades, beginning when they first met on the set of the 2003 film Gigli. Though their romance ended in 2004, the two rekindled their relationship in 2021, much to the delight of their fans, who dubbed them “Bennifer 2.0.” They were married in two ceremonies, first in Las Vegas and then in Georgia, celebrating what seemed like a fairytale reunion.
Lopez and Affleck’s marriage came after years of separate relationships, with Lopez previously married to Marc Anthony, with whom she shares two children, and Affleck previously married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children.
Although their renewed love story inspired much public fascination, recent signs suggested a separation. The couple had been living on separate coasts, and Affleck was notably absent from Lopez’s Bridgerton-themed birthday party in July. Now, with the divorce officially filed, their high-profile love story has come to an end once again.
