Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Ultra at its Unpacked 2025 event, positioning it as the flagship model in its latest smartphone lineup. While the device introduces expected hardware upgrades, it also reportedly addresses a key display issue that plagued the Galaxy S24 series—grainy screen texture at low brightness levels. Though the display specifications largely remain unchanged from its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra now features Corning Gorilla Armor 2 protection with an anti-reflective coating, which could enhance visual clarity and durability.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Improves Display Quality
According to a post by Ice Universe on X (formerly Twitter), Samsung has taken steps to fix the grainy display issue that affected the Galaxy S24 Ultra at lower brightness levels. A side-by-side comparison shared by the tipster suggests that the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers noticeable improvements in screen quality and brightness uniformity. However, the claim specifically focuses on the Ultra model, leaving uncertainty about whether similar enhancements have been made to the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
A Recurring Display Controversy
The grainy screen issue first gained attention last year when Ice Universe criticized Samsung, even calling for a class-action lawsuit over what was perceived as a manufacturing defect in the Galaxy S24 series. At the time, the tipster accused Samsung of ignoring customer concerns and urged users in the United States to boycott the lineup. This display problem was particularly noticeable in dark environments, where uneven pixel rendering created a distracting visual experience.
Additional Camera and Display Concerns
Aside from display-related criticisms, Ice Universe also raised concerns about the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera system, claiming issues with color accuracy and excessive image sharpening. The phone’s 5x telephoto camera was reportedly plagued by a glow effect around white objects, hinting at possible hardware limitations. With the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung appears to be refining both its display and camera technologies to address user feedback. More real-world testing will be needed to determine whether these fixes mark a significant improvement over last year’s model.
