Galaxy S25: Continuing the Trend of Display Size Expansion for Samsung

Rumors surrounding the anticipated Samsung Galaxy S25 are already making waves, despite its projected release not expected until early 2025. Details emerging from a tipster on Naver, a prominent Korean blog service, suggest that Samsung’s forthcoming flagship will feature a marginally larger display compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24. This leak hints at Samsung’s continued penchant for incrementally increasing the screen size of its flagship handsets, a trend that has become characteristic of its recent releases.

As per information shared by the tipster yeux1122 on Naver, the Samsung Galaxy S25 is purported to boast a 6.36-inch display, a slight bump up from the 6.2-inch screen found on the Galaxy S24. This subtle enhancement in screen real estate underscores Samsung’s commitment to offering users an immersive and visually captivating experience with each successive iteration of its flagship lineup. Notably, this trajectory of size expansion has been observed in previous models, with the Galaxy S23 sporting a 6.1-inch display upon its launch last year.

Interestingly, the tipster highlights a broader industry trend of smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi and Apple, gravitating towards larger displays in their flagship offerings. Xiaomi’s forthcoming flagship series, the Xiaomi 14, is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch display, indicating a shift towards larger form factors. Similarly, Apple’s purported plans to increase the size of its iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models to 6.3mm and 6.9mm, respectively, further underscore the growing preference for larger screens among consumers.

These insights into the evolving landscape of smartphone design suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S25 is poised to continue the company’s tradition of pushing boundaries and setting new standards in the flagship segment. By embracing larger displays and leveraging advancements in display technology, Samsung aims to deliver a next-generation flagship experience that captivates and delights users, cementing its position as an industry leader in innovation and design excellence.

Samsung Galaxy S25 is not likely to debut until early 2025, but details of the company’s rumoured successor to this year’s Galaxy S24 handset have already begun to surface online. According to details shared by a tipster on Naver, a Korean blog service, the Samsung Galaxy S25 will be equipped with a slightly larger screen compared to its predecessor. The South Korean smartphone maker is tipped to bring noteworthy changes to the Galaxy S25 smartphone lineup, including the primary camera sensor and using its own Exynos chip in all markets.

A blog post by tipster yeux1122 (in Korean) on Naver (via GSMArena) states that the Samsung Galaxy S25 could sport a 6.36-inch display. This is slightly larger than the Galaxy 24 handset that was unveiled this year with a 6.2-inch screen, and suggests that the trend of the company ramping up the size of its handsets is set to continue — the Samsung Galaxy S23 (Review) that was launched last year had a 6.1-inch screen.

The tipster points out that while the purported Samsung Galaxy S25 could feature a 6.3-inch display that matches the dimensions of this year’s Xiaomi 14, the Chinese smartphone maker is already planning on increasing the size of the smallest phone in its next flagship series. Apple is also reportedly planning to increase the size of both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max to 6.3mm and 6.9mm, respectively — which means both phones will be 2mm larger than their predecessors.
