Redmi K80 Series Rumored to Feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC and 5,500mAh Battery

Redmi K80 Series Expected to Feature Metal Frames and Glass Backs

The Redmi K80 series is anticipated to launch later this year, with various details about the forthcoming models surfacing online. Previous leaks have hinted at the possible names for these handsets. A recent leak has revealed some display, chipset, and battery specifications for the expected models. While the company has not yet officially announced the lineup, it is expected to succeed the Redmi K70 series, which was unveiled in China in November 2023. The rumored Redmi K80 smartphones are anticipated to feature significant upgrades over their predecessors.

Tipster Smart Pikachu has disclosed on Weibo that the Redmi K80 models are expected to come equipped with 5,500mAh batteries. An earlier leak from the same source indicated that the upcoming lineup would likely consist of a base Redmi K80 and a Redmi K80 Pro model. This represents an increase in battery capacity compared to the previous Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro models, which feature 5,000mAh batteries. Thus, the new K80 series is expected to offer improved battery life.

The same tipster also mentioned that the vanilla Redmi K80 is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Meanwhile, the Redmi K80 Pro is rumored to come with the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. For context, the earlier Redmi K70 and K70 Pro models were equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoCs, respectively. This suggests a substantial performance upgrade in the new K80 series.

Additionally, the rumored Redmi K80 series is expected to feature other notable enhancements. While specific details about the display technology and camera systems have not been disclosed, these aspects are also likely to see improvements, aligning with the trend of offering better specifications and user experience with each new iteration.

The build quality of the Redmi K80 series is another area of interest. Reports suggest that the new models might come with metal frames and glass backs, providing a premium look and feel. This would be a step up from the previous series, which already offered a solid build quality but might not have featured the same premium materials.

Overall, the anticipation around the Redmi K80 series is building, with leaks hinting at significant upgrades in battery capacity, processing power, and potentially build quality. As we await the official announcement from Redmi, these rumored specifications paint a picture of a highly competitive mid-range smartphone lineup that could appeal to a broad audience.

The Redmi K70 lineup also launched with a Redmi K70E model. Based on earlier leaks, since the Redmi K80 lineup is unlikely to feature an “E” model, it is speculated to launch as one of the Redmi Note 14 models, instead.
