Recent Leak Points to ‘Actua’ Displays Featuring Enhanced Peak Brightness
Google’s upcoming Pixel product launch, scheduled for August 13, has generated significant excitement as anticipation builds for a range of new devices. While the spotlight will undoubtedly be on the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and the highly anticipated Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google has added another layer of intrigue by teasing a foldable option— the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Alongside these flagship smartphones, a new contender will also enter the wearable tech space, with the Pixel Watch 3 set to be unveiled. Reports have indicated that the smartwatch will be available in two sizes, offering 41mm and 45mm case options. Adding fuel to the excitement is a massive leak that has surfaced, showcasing what appears to be official promotional images of the Pixel Watch 3 series.
According to a report from Android Headlines, the leaked promo images provide a deeper look at the details surrounding the Pixel Watch 3. Although the contents of the packaging may not see major changes compared to the Pixel Watch 2, there are still a few noteworthy points. Each model—both the 41mm and 45mm variants—is expected to come with an attached set of straps, along with an extra Active band as part of the package. Additionally, the familiar magnetic USB-C fast charging cable, featuring a Type-C port on one end and a circular charger on the other, is likely to remain in the box.
The promo images also suggest that the Pixel Watch 3 will indeed come in two different case sizes, a point that has been consistent across several leaks to date. The leaked images highlight a similar aesthetic between the two variants, with the primary differences lying in the display size and battery capacity. The larger 45mm model is expected to boast a slightly bigger display, making it a suitable option for those who prefer a more substantial screen on their wrist.
As for the core hardware, the Pixel Watch 3 models appear to share many of the same components across both sizes. This consistency may be advantageous for users who prioritize functionality over size, as they won’t be sacrificing key features by opting for the smaller variant. Both models are expected to run the latest version of Wear OS, offering enhanced performance and improved battery life compared to previous generations.
One of the standout features expected on the Pixel Watch 3 is an upgraded display. Leaks point to the inclusion of ‘Actua’ displays, which are rumored to feature high peak brightness. This enhancement is aimed at improving visibility in various lighting conditions, particularly in direct sunlight, which has been a common issue with many smartwatches. If the rumors hold true, this could be a game-changer for users who rely on their wearables during outdoor activities.
In terms of design and overall aesthetic, Google appears to be sticking to its minimalist roots, with sleek, rounded edges and a seamless interface. The leak suggests that the Pixel Watch 3 will retain a familiar design language while introducing subtle refinements to enhance user comfort and experience. These changes, combined with the expected software improvements, indicate that Google is aiming to further establish itself in the smartwatch market, competing directly with industry leaders like Apple and Samsung.
